Review | British Airways Lounge Singapore

British Airways Lounge Singapore Entrance

I visited the British Airways Lounge in Singapore alongside the Qantas Business Lounge Singapore adjacent to this lounge. You can read my full review on that lounge here.

Directions to BA Lounge

The lounge sits on the upper floor of the departures area at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1. Terminal 1 at Changi Airport is the unofficial terminal whereby most Oneworld flights depart from, with the exception of Malaysia Airlines which departs from Terminal 2, and Cathay Pacific which departs from Terminal 4. If you're departing on Cathay Pacific and intend to use the Oneworld lounges at Terminal 1, you should leave at least 90 minutes of time to get to your gate at Terminal 4, as the only way to get there is via the interconnected buses. Nevertheless, take note that Cathay Pacific runs its own lounge at Terminal 4, which is equally as splendid (if not better) than the lounges at Changi Terminal 1.

Seating Area

Lounge Corridor after Reception

Upon entering the British Airways Singapore Lounge, you'll find yourself in a corridor of sorts which separates the washrooms and showers, together with the rest of the lounge area.

The lounge was pretty crowded during my visit on a Sunday evening. With British Airways bringing back the A380 jumbo aircraft for its flights to Singapore, I would assume the lounge will likely be more packed once this change is effective.

Dining Area

The dining area, buffet selection and alcohol selection separates the left and right side of the lounge and runs the length of the lounge itself.

Fresh Fruits and Salads

Fresh Pastries and Desserts

Asian Menu Selection

Thai Basil Chicken

Chicken Satay

Western Menu

Beef and Mushroom Straganoff

During my visit, I sampled several dishes at the lounge, but I wanted to save my stomach for the other lounges I was going to visit before my flight. I actually found the quality of food to be pretty decent, and surprisingly enough, the selection was more abundant than what was offered at the Qantas Business Lounge next door. The chicken satay was brilliant.

Alcohol and Beverage Selection

Champagne

Champagne is available on demand via the QR code on each table. British Airways currently serves RESERVE LES ESQUIROTS - SAUVIGNON champagne.

Alcoholic Beverage Menu

While I'm glad that British Airways offers a wide selection of alcohol, I'm disappointed that they haven't taken the opportunity to appoint an actual bartender for the lounge, similar to what Qantas has done for its lounges in Singapore.

Washrooms and Shower Suites

Amenities in Shower Suites

The washrooms and shower suites are regularly cleaned, and each shower suite is cleaned after use. As you would expect from a British Airways lounge, bidets were not included in the toilets.

Final Thoughts

Located in the bustling Terminal 1 of Singapore Changi Airport, the British Airways Lounge is a prime spot for Oneworld passengers, with the exception of those departing via airlines like Malaysia Airlines and Cathay Pacific from different terminals. Those traveling via Cathay Pacific from Terminal 4 should allocate ample transit time and might want to consider enjoying Cathay Pacific's own splendid lounge facilities there. Likewise, if you have access to this lounge, I strongly recommend that you also visit the Qantas Business Lounge next door to take full advantage of your Oneworld benefits prior to your flight.

In terms of dining, the British Airways Lounge impresses with its diverse and quality offerings, which seemed even more abundant than the adjacent Qantas Business Lounge. Highlights included a particularly delightful chicken satay. Moreover, while the lounge boasts a broad alcohol selection, including RESERVE LES ESQUIROTS - SAUVIGNON champagne available on-demand, the absence of an in-person bartender, unlike the neighboring Qantas lounge, is a missed opportunity.

Hygiene standards within the washroom and shower suites are commendable, with frequent cleanings ensuring a pleasant experience, though the lack of bidets might surprise some.

In conclusion, while the British Airways Lounge in Singapore offers comfort and a noteworthy food selection, there's room for enhancements, especially in the realm of personalized beverage services.
