Last month, I wrote an article to inform you all to cancel your CIMB e Card immediately, after the bank has effectively removed the earning of Bonus Points for reloading E-Wallets. The move by CIMB to do so has effectively killed the need to have the entry level credit card, as none of its other benefits are attractive enough to justify keeping the card. You are better off consolidating your spending to other credit cards to earn airline miles, and today, I'm recommending you to switch to the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite credit card instead.
I previously reviewed the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite credit card in detail. You can read my full review here. In my review last year, I highlighted that Alliance Bank grants you 8X Bonus Points for reloading your E-Wallets, up to a maximum of RM3,000 per month. Of course, once you hit this cap, you can still continue to reload your E-Wallets, but note that any reloads above RM3,000 monthly will no longer earn you 8X TBP, but instead just 1X TBP. With 8X TBP, you are essentially earning 1 Enrich Mile for every RM1.25 spent using the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite credit card, making it one of the best credit cards in Malaysia for earning Enrich Miles.
To give a better perspective on how this fares with other top credit cards:
CIMB Travel World Elite earns you 1 Enrich Mile for every RM1.00 spent locally.
RHB Premier Visa Infinite earns you 1 Enrich Mile for every RM1.00 spent overseas.
UOB PRVI Miles Elite earns you 1 Enrich Mile for every RM0.90 spent overseas.
Final Thoughts
You can clearly see that if properly planned, you can definitely take advantage of the Enrich Miles earning rate via the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite credit card. It's definitely not a problem reloading RM3,000 into your E-Wallet each month, because you can simply pay for everything these days with your E-Wallet, so what you're doing is essentially reloading in advance to pay for your everyday spending. This is a huge opportunity to earn as much Enrich Miles as possible given that the accrual rate is as close as it can be to the kind of accrual rates you get when spending overseas. You'll rarely find these kinds of miles accrual rates via local spend on credit card these days. Although the CIMB Travel World Elite credit card is a notable exception, I have been told this may no longer be case in the near future.
